Harlem Renaissance

Good evening viewers, Today I want to talk about the music and art that was being created in the Harlem renaissance era in New York. This was a cultural movement in the 1920/30's which was centred around the Harlem neighbourhood in New York.

I particularly enjoy this era because there was some amazing music created at this time notably jazz and blues, also there was some really good performing arts being done at this time. Some icons from this era include Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday and Duke Ellington. And some famous venues that were frequently performed at were the Cotton Club and the Apollo. And also someone that I really admire from this era is a painter called William Johnson who did the famous painting called "Man in a vest".

Enjoy!
